UPSC CMS Exam 2024 - The Union Public Service Commission released the UPSC CMS exam notification in online mode on April 10, 2024. The notification for UPSC CMS exam was released on the official website at upsc.gov.in. Along with the notification, the commission also released the UPSC CMS application form in online mode. Candidates can apply for the UPSC CMS exam till April 30, 2024. Before applying for the UPSC CMS exam, aspirants must check the eligibility criteria. The UPSC CMS exam is scheduled to be held on July 14, 2024.

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the Combined Medical Services Examination (CMS) for the posts of Assistant Medical Officer in Indian Ordnance Factories Health Services, Assistant Divisional Medical Officer in the Railways, Junior Scale Posts in Central Health Services, etc. as per the available vacancies.

UPSC CMS is conducted in 2 stages – Computer-based examination and personality test. The computer-based examination comprises 2 papers – Paper 1 (General Medicine and Pediatrics) and Paper 2 (Surgery, Gynaecology & Obstetrics and Preventive & Social Medicine).

UPSC CMS 2024 Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria of UPSC CMS exam is prescribed by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Candidates appearing for UPSC CMS exam must check the eligibility criteria before filling the application form. Check the detailed UPSC CMS Eligibility criteria below.

Nationality

The following candidates are eligible to appear for UPSC CMS exam

  • Indian, or

  • Bhutan, or

  • Nepal, or

  • Indian origin migrants who have settled permanently in India from East African Countries of Uganda, Kenya,  Pakistan, United Republic of Tanzania, Ethiopia, Malawi, Sri Lanka , Vietnam, Zaire, Burma, or

  • Tibetan refugee who settled in India permanently before January 1, 1962 with certificate issued by Government of India can apply for UPSC CMS 2024.

The UPSC released the UPSC CMS application form in online mode on April 10, 2024 on the official website. The last date to apply for UPSC CMS exam is April 30, 2024. Candidates need to fill the details of Aadhar card while filling the application form however, candidates who do not have aadhar card can fill the details of any one photo identity proof like Driving License, Passport, Voter Id card, PAN Card, etc.

General and OBC category candidates have to pay Rs.200 as their application fee while PH, females, ST/SC candidates are exempted from payment. It is advised to the candidates to fill the application form carefully because the editing of details in the application can not be done after final submission.

Steps to fill UPSC CMS Application Form

  • Open the UPSC official website - upsc.gov.in.

  • Click on the ‘Apply Online link’ available on the web page.

  • Online One-Time Registration (OTR)- If the applicants are not completed the One Time Registration, They have to complete it by providing some basic details such as personal and contact details.

  • Login by using valid login credentials Email ID and OTP/Password or Mobile number and  OTP/Password or OTR ID and OTP/Password.

  • Candidates have to fill out the UPSC CMS application form in two parts which include filling in other details, fee payment, uploading of scanned documents, signature, photo identity card document and selection of preferred exam centre.

  • Check all the details furnished in the UPSC CMS application form thoroughly and edit the details if needed.

  • Once submitted, Applicants will not able to make changes in their UPSC CMS application form.

  • After submission, a registration number will be generated. Candidates have to download it as a pdf file and take a printout for future reference.

UPSC CMS 2024 Exam Pattern

The UPSC CMS 2024 exam pattern has been released by the exam conducting authority, UPSC helps candidates understand the pattern, types of questions, subjects, etc. UPSC CMS is conducted in 2 stages – Written exam and personality test. The written exam is conducted for 500 marks while personality test carries 100 marks.

UPSC CMS written exam comprises of 2 papers-  paper 1 (General Medicine and Pediatrics) and paper 2  (Surgery, Gynaecology & Obstetrics and Preventive & Social Medicine). Each paper is conducted for 2 hours. Both the papers of written exam will carry 250 marks. Check the detailed UPSC exam pattern below.

UPSC CMS 2024 admit card is issued by UPSC online for computer-based examination and Personality test separately. Aspirants who successfully fill the application form will be issued admit card for computer-based examination. UPSC CMS admit card for the Personality test will be released for the candidates who qualify the computer-based examination.

UPSC CMS 2024 Answer Key

The official answer key of UPSC CMS exam will be available at upsc.gov.in. UPSC CMS answer key for all papers will be released by the commission. Candidates can check the answers from the answer key and calculate the probable score. Through the marks calculated after checking the answer key, candidates can assess their performance and know the possibility of succeeding for further rounds of selection process.

UPSC will announce the UPSC CMS result online on its official website. Candidates qualifying the computer-based exam are eligible to appear for personality test. UPSC releases CMS result separately for computer-based exam and personality. The exam conducting authority also releases the final result of qualified candidates of both stages. The final result is prepared adding the marks of computer-based exam and personality test.

The cutoff of UPSC CMS exam will be released by UPSC. Candidates have to qualify  the minimum marks released by the commission to be eligible to appear for next round selection process. The cut off written exam is calculated out of 500 marks. The commission releases the category wise cutoff which a candidate must score to be eligible for Personality test.

UPSC CMS cutoff will be released after the declaration of computer based examination result. The commission also releases UPSC CMS final cut off where the marks of computer based exam and personality is added. The final cutoff of UPSC CMS exam is calculated out of 600 marks.

So its quite normal and usual and if you wish to go for the UPSC CSE examination after your UPSC CMS then you can obviously go for it and you can quit your job for civil services.

UPSC After BHMS

Surely one can opt for UPSC that is civil service examinations after BHMS to pursue career in civil services.

The eligibility age may vary as per reservation criterion ranges from 32 years to 37 years. ( Detail chart is available on official website)

The syllabus remains same for all in preliminary examination while special subjects pertaining to Homoeopathy are supposed to be included in mains.

After homeopathy one can peruse UPSC and can serve in various administration departments depending upon the merit secured. If specific examination opted for particular post then it would be case dependant.

Hello,

The eligibility criteria to apply for UPSC Combined Medical Service Examination is that a candidate must have passed the written and practical parts of the final M.B.B.S. Examination. Candidates who are appearing in final year examination are also eligible to apply provisionally. A candidate who has yet to complete the compulsory rotating internship is educationally eligible for admission to the examination but on selection he/she will be appointed only after he/she has completed the compulsory rotating internship.

Considering the given criteria you are not eligible to apply for UPSC CMS as you haven't studied MBBS.

Yes, students who are doing BAMS or BHMS can do UPSC CMS. UPSC Combined Medical Service examination has the eligibility criteria that the candidate must have passed MBBS. So after BHMS you can apply for UPSC CMS .
