About TNPSC Group 2 2024

Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) has issued the TNPSC Group 2 2024 admit card on September 4, 2024 on the official website, at tnpsc.gov.in. The TNPSC Group 2 2024 application form correction window was active from July 24 to 26, 2024 in online mode. Candidates were able to fill and submit the TNPSC Group 2 application form 2024 from June 20 to July 17, 2024.  The commission released the TNPSC Group 2 2024 notification online mode on the official website.The commission is going to conduct the TNPSC Group 2 exam 2024 for prelims on September 14, 2024.

TNPSC conducts Combined Civil Services Examination-Group II examination for recruitment of candidates to various posts like Industrial Co-operative Officer, Probation Officer, Assistant Inspector of Labour, Sub Registrar, Grade-II, Assistant Section Officer, Audit Inspector, Revenue Assistant etc in different government departments of the state such as Tamil Nadu Industries Subordinate Service, Tamil Nadu Social Defence Subordinate Service, Tamil Nadu Ministerial Service, Tamil Nadu Secretariat Service etc. The selection of the candidates will be done on the basis of the TNPSC Group 2 2024 exam which is conducted in three phases - preliminary, mains and interview. Candidates who qualify in all three phases of the exam will be considered qualified TNPSC Group 2 qualified.

The eligibility criteria of TNPSC Group 2 has been prescribed by the examination authority, TNPSC. To be eligible for the recruitment exam, candidates have to fulfil the eligibility criteria as per age and educational qualification.

Academic Qualification 

The minimum educational qualification prescribed for TNPSC Group 2 recruitment is graduation in any discipline (Arts, Science, Commerce). The educational qualification varies as per posts. 

Candidates can fill the TNPSC Group 2 application form online. To fill TNPSC Group 2 application form , candidates have to first register for the exam by entering their basic details. The fees for one-time registration is Rs 150. The registration is valid for 5 years from the date of registration. The examination fees for preliminary exam is Rs 100. Candidates qualifying the preliminary examination will have to fill pay requisite fees for appearing in the mains exam. The fees for the main written examination is Rs 150. Fee can be paid both online and offline.  The fees for Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Caste(Arunthathiyars), Scheduled Tribes, Differently abled Persons, Destitute Widow of all Communities, Most Backward Classes / Denotified Communities, Backward Classes (Other than Muslims) and Backward Classes (Muslims) and Ex-Servicemen are exempted.  The steps to fill TNPSC Group 2 application form is explained below. 

Steps to fill TNPSC Group 2 Application Form

  • One-time registration (OTR) is important before applying for any post. 
  • For OTR, candidates required scanned images of photograph, signature and certificates. 
  • After registration, candidate’s unique ID and password were generated. 
  • Candidates have to login with the required credentials to fill the application form. 
  • To fill TNPSC Group 2 application form, candidates had to select the post or service. 
  • Applicants have to upload their photograph and signature as per dimension. 
  • After submitting the application, applicants could take the printout of application form in PDF format.

Preliminary Exam

  • TNPSC group 2 2024 exam pattern of Preliminary Exam 
  • The preliminary examination of TNPSC comprises objective type questions. 
  • The test consisted of General Studies, Aptitude and Mental Ability Test and General Tamil/General English. 
  • Questions on General Studies were of graduation level. While the standard of questions from Aptitude and Mental Ability Test and General Tamil/ General English were of SSLC level. 
  • The test booklet carries a total of 200 questions. 
  • The maximum marks allotted for the exam is 300.

              Preliminary Exam

              TNPSC group 2 2024 hall ticket for preliminary exam has been released in online mode on September 4, 2024. The TNPSC Group 2 admit card for the preliminary examination has been issued to only those candidates who have successfully registered for the exam. The admit card of group 2 of TNPSC 2024 is issued separately for preliminary, mains, and oral tests. Candidates appearing for the exam can download the TNPSC group 2 2024 hall ticket for all stages online by logging in with their application number/ login ID and password. Admit card will not be sent to candidates by post. TNPSC Group 2 hall ticket contains details like registration number, candidate’s name, city, exam centre and address, exam schedule, photograph and signature. Along with TNPSC 2024 group 2 hall ticket candidates had to carry photo-identity proof to the examination centre on the day of the exam.

              Main Exam

              TNPSC group 2 2024 admit card for the mains exam will be released online. TNPSC 2024 group 2 admit card for the mains exam will be issued to candidates who qualify in the preliminary examination.

              Preliminary Exam

              The answer key of the TNPSC 2024 group 2 preliminary exam is released officially. The answer key is made available online for all subjects - General Tamil, General English and General Studies. With the help of the TNPSC Group 2 answer key candidates can check the correct answers to questions asked in the exam. Based on the number of correct responses, they can calculate their probable score. Candidates also have the facility to raise an objection against the answers in the answer key if they find any incorrect answer. 

              Preliminary Exam

              The result of TNPSC group 2 2024 is released in three stages – Preliminary, Mains and Final. First, TNPSC declares the TNPSC Group 2 result of the preliminary exam which will be followed by the declaration of the result of the mains and the final. On the basis of the performance in the prelims exam, candidates are selected for the mains exam. Candidates have to secure the prescribed qualifying cut off to clear the preliminary exam.

              Main Exam

              Group 2 of TNPSC 2024 result of mains exam is declared by the exam conducting authority. Based on the result of the TNPSC group 2 2024 mains examination, candidates will be called for Certificate Verification. Eligible candidates will be selected for document verification. The final TNPSC 2024 group 2 along with the list of shortlisted candidates for counselling will be then published by TNPSC. The final result will be announced based on the marks obtained by candidates in mains exam and oral test. 

              Preliminary Exam

              Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission will announce the qualifying cutoff of TNPSC 2024 group 2 for the preliminary exam. To qualify for the exam, candidates have to secure a qualifying TNPSC Group 2 cutoff. The qualifying cut off is common across all categories. TNPSC Group 2 qualifying cut off prescribed for the preliminary examination is 90.

              Main Exam

              The qualifying marks for mains exam will be announced along with the notification. Candidates must secure qualifying cut off in the mains examination. This cutoff is common across all categories.

              TNPSC will select candidates for various posts based on their performance in mains exam and oral test. TNPSC Group 2 selection process comprises preliminary and mains exam followed by an oral test.  All candidates who have applied for the exam had to first appear for the preliminary exam. Qualified candidates of preliminary exam will be called for the mains exam. Candidates qualifying the mains exam will be called for an oral test. The preliminary exam is qualifying in nature, therefore, the marks obtained by candidates at this stage of TNPSC Group 2 selection process will not be considered for preparing the final merit list. Candidates 10 times the number of vacancies will be selected for the mains exam.
