Eligibility for UPSC is passed graduation in any discipline from a recognized university, you can apply even in the final year, there's no minimum aggregate required for this, UPSC is more humanities oriented if you have inclination towards arts stream then you can choose subjects like political science,public administration, geography, history etc to name a few, it entirely depends on your interest in which field you want to apply,having any of this subject will also have an added advantage when it comes to choosing optional in the exam, you can also consider going through the entire list of optional subjects to choose your subject.
Eventually, it doesn't matter which stream you're from,the reason being UPSC allows people from diverse backgrounds to appear for this exam and even those selected candidates belong to varied streams like arts,science, engineering, medical etc what matters is your strategy and planning.
The eligibility criteria for UPSC which is the entrance exam for Civil Services is that you should have completed your Bachelor's degree in any discipline. So if you are not interested in pursuing BA, you have a variety of courses to study from. They can be Professional courses like MBBS, BDS, B.Tech, CA, CS or life Science courses like B.Sc in Bio Technology, Microbiology, Biology or Mathematics, Statistics, or Acturial Sciences. It doesn't matter from which Educational babkground you belong . If you prepare well and have depth knowledge you can acheive what you want.
For higher education always choose subject of interest and comfortable with. You need to work harder and motivated all the time.
Acquint yourself with the syllabus, paper pattern and start collecting material. You should read newspaper as well as keep up with current affairs. As a Science student you can either opt for pure Science subjects in mains because IAS is all about competition and there you have to find your edge. You can even go for scoring Subject like public administration , political science .
To clear prelims you need a thorough knowledge of almost all liberal arts and GK subjects.star with NCERT and move on to guidebooks. Smart study and note making is key to success. You can even go for popular IAS coaching centres which offers one year or 6 months Courses. They will provide you test materials and mock tests.

*Make a routine or a time table and try to give at least 6 hours to studies , keep short brakes of 20 to 30 minutes after every 2.5 to 3 hours
*Read newspaper daily and keep yourself updated with the current affairs
*Choose your optional subject wisely , choose the subject you have interest in.
*Make short notes after completing each chapter
*Revise :- there's no point of preparing for the exam if you couldn't recall anything in the UPSC Examination so you should stress on revision as well.
*Solve previous year question papers and mock test papers ;- You should solve these , it will give you idea of types of questions asked and their difficulty level and will help you a lot.
*Also work on your communication skills and personality development as it plays an important role in your interview round

I would seriously suggest you to go through syllabus first. Go twice, thrice so that it can intact into your mind.
Read all the NCERT first. Go through Polity, History, Geography, Economics, Mathematics (6-10), Science (especially biology part)
After completing these things you can switch to the main syllabus like Laxmikamt, Indian Economics, gc Lee geography and all.
