No, through AFCAT women will be recruited in Short Service Commission however, ministry of defence has granted permanent commission for women in Indian Army, Indian Airforce and Indian Navy in 2020. But permanent service commission is given for those who have joined in SSC. The notification for AFCAT 2 2020 is released and there is no permanent service commission granted for women initially, once you have joined in SSC after 10+4 years of service you may apply for Permanent commission.
In IAF permanent commission is not given for Flying branch for rest of the branches such as ground duty technical and non-technical will be given PC for women.
Yeah Definitely, you can apply for Technical, Flying as well as Non Flying Branches in AFCAT after Metallurgical Engineering. Of course the requirements for Metallurgical engineering are comparatively less than Mechanical or perhaps Electrical Engineers in AIR FORCE, but never mind you can always make your place if you have will.
In AFCAT Flying Branch, doesnt matter you are from which branch, what matters is your performance in Aptitude test, Your Attitude and Determination during SSB Interview as well as your Fitness and accuracy levels.
