UPSC Civil Services Exam
Hello there
For becoming IAS officer you need not to to worry about your stream as every stream candidate can give the civil services examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission and after passing this exam only an Aspiring candidate can become an IAS officer.
So you can take any stream in whichever you feel interested as it won't be becoming your obstacle for giving upsc exam. But if you want to start your preparation from your graduation onwards you can choose the streams which helps in your preparation like bachelor in arts which coincide most of the syllabus as like the upsc exam.
Best of luck!
Thank you!

Hello there!
Greetings!
The process of becoming an IAS officer is pretty easy. First of all you need to complete your graduation and the appear for the exam called UPSC i.e. Union Public Service Commission . The UPSC CSE consists of 3 stages Prelims, Mains, and Interview. And if you manage to clear all these three rounds and manage to get a top rank at least less than 90 or 100 then you will become an IAS officer. Getting into Indian Administrative Service (IAS) is not easy considering the competition involved, but not impossible for a candidate with right attitude and approach. So , just work hard , you will definitely become an IAS officer.
Thankyou
There is no steadfast rule that a Candidate should have completed his/her Graduation full term. The eligibility rule states that a Candidate should have completed his/her Graduation in any discipline from a recognised University. This University should be incorporated by Act of Central or State Legislature of India. So, as long as your University is a recognised one, you are eligible to appear for UPSC examinations.
Hi,
The service preference in your DAF decides your career and destiny . A lot of times ,due to negligence ,ignorance and lack of knowledge candidates make a wrong choice.
To help all of them ,I am sharing my view on the optimum service priority. SERVICE PREFERENCE 1. IAS 2. IFS 3. IPS (Above 3 are interchangeable)
Hello,
Two DAF are required to be filled after qualifying Prelims and Mains as mentioned below-
The Candidates who are declared by the Commission to have qualified for admission to the Civil Services (Main) Examination need to apply online again and submit online Detailed Application Form-I [DAF-I] along with scanned documents/certificates in support of date of birth, category {viz. SC/ST/ OBC(without OBC Annexure) /EWS [Economically Weaker Sections](without EWS Annexure) /PwBD / Ex-Serviceman} and educational qualification with required Examination Fee.
And those who qualified Civil Services (Main) Examination are required to mandatorily indicate order of preferences only for those services participating in the Civil Services Examination for the year, for which they are interested to be allocated to, in the online Detailed Application Form-II [DAF-II], before the commencement of Personality Tests (Interviews) of the examination with required documents/certificates for higher education, achievements in different fields, service experience, OBC Annexure (for OBC category only), EWS Annexure [for EWS Category only], etc to be uploaded.
Further, the candidates who wish to indicate IAS/IPS as their Service preference are advised to indicate all the Zones and Cadres in the order of preference in their online DAF-II as per the extant Cadre Allocation Policy applicable for the Civil Services Examination.
• Then watch available videos on some videos for various subjects like Polity, Economy, History. Have a basic understanding.
• Go through the booklist for upsc.
Reading newspaper
• Avoid in the beginning. Since you do not have any idea on what to read and how to read. After 4–5 months of preparation only start reading newspaper.
Dear Aspirant,
Students who wished to appear for UPSC exam must have to have a Degree from recognised university by University grants commission. Hence, if you have a degree not diploma then you are eligible for IAS exam. Moreover, you have to have your degree with you if you are going to appear for the exam. You can give prelims if you are currently in the final year but for mains, you must have your degree with you.
Hope this helps. Thank you.
