Hope you are doing great! If you are in 6th sem of your btech and want to apply for afcat then it will be difficult for you.You can apply for it after finishing your btech completely then you can apply for flying branch but right now it will not be possible.

Yes, you can apply for AFCAT even if there is one year gap in education. But you need to fulfill the age criteria. The minimum age limit for flying branch is 20 years and the upper age limit is 24 years. For Commercial Pilot License holders issued by DGCA the upper age limit is 26 years. For ground duty technical and non technical the lower age limit is 20 years and the upper age limit is 26 years. You must also fulfil the education eligibility criteria for the post you are applying. The lower age limit to appear for CDS for Officers Training Academy (Non-Technical) is 19 years and the upper age limit is 25 years at the time of commencement of the course.
The lower age limit to appear for AFCAT for ground duty Non-Technical is 20 years and the upper age limit is 26 years at the time of commencement of the course.
