The Jammu & Kashmir SET Agency will announce the holding of the State Eligibility Test (J&K SET) in the second week of March, 2019 for determining the eligibility of J&K State subjects for the Eligibility for Assistant Professor in Colleges and Universities of Jammu & Kashmir State. The Agency will conduct SET in 37 subjects (listed below).
The application forms will be released in the second week of December, 2018 and the last date to apply will be in the last week of December, 2018. The admit card of JK SET will release a week before the date of exam in online mode and the result will release in April, 2019. The exam will consist of three papers, all conducted on a single day in two sessions.

Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (General Category) and 50% marks (Reserved categories) in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC in Sciences, Humanities (including languages) and Social Science are eligible to apply for the JK SET 2019.
The Ph.D degree holders who have qualified Master’s level examination by 19th September, 1992
(irrespective of date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e. from 55% to 50%) for appearing in SET.
Candidates with post-graduate diploma/certificate course(s) or foreign degree/diploma should ascertain the equivalence of their course(s) with Master’s degree of recognized Indian universities from Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi.
There is no upper age limit for applying for eligibility for Assistant Professor.

The application form of JK SET 2019 will be released online in the second week of December, 2018 on the official website. Candidates need to fill the application form, upload their latest passport size photograph and submit it online along with paying the examination fee. The examination fee of JK SET 2019 is Rs.1000 for general category candidates, Rs.800 for RBA/ALC, Rs.700 for WUP and Rs.600 for SC/ST/PWD/CGB. Fee can only be paid through online mode using Credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking. Candidate must take a printout and keep a copy for future reference.
It is important to note that those candidates applying under any Reserved Category shall submit the hard copy of JK SET application form along with self-attested photocopy of reserved category certificate at the SET office, University of Kashmir/ the Jammu Centre Coordinator’s office at University of Jammu. Candidate must also remember to bring with them the Original Reserved Category Certificate along with him/her for on-spot verification.
The JK SET consists of three papers. All the three papers will consist of only multiple choice questions and will be held in the second week of March, 2019 in two separate sessions.
In the first session, Paper I will carry a total of 100 marks and will be of 75 minutes (from 9:30am to 10:45am). There will be a total of 60 questions of 2 marks each out of which 50 are to be attempted. JK SET 2019 Paper-I shall be of general nature, intended to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate. In the event of a candidate attempting more than fifty questions, the first fifty questions attempted by the candidate would be evaluated.
Paper II will be conducted in the first session. The duration of the exam will be 75 minutes (from 10:45 am to 12 noon). JK SET 2019 shall consist of 50 multiple choice type (all compulsory) questions based on the subject selected by a candidate. Each question will carry 2 marks. The paper will have a total of 100 marks.
Paper III of JK SET 2019 will be conducted in the second session. It will consist of 75 multiple choice compulsory questions from the subject selected by the candidate. Each question will carry 2 marks. All questions of Paper-III also will be compulsory, covering entire syllabus (including all electives, without options). The duration of Paper III will be 150 minutes (from 1:30 pm to 4:00pm).
A candidate will have to mark the responses for questions of Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III on the Optical Mark Reader (OMR) sheets provided along with the Test Booklets.
The admit card of JK SET 2019 will be released online on the official website a week prior to the exam date. Candidates are advised to take the printout of the JK SET 2019 hall ticket and keep a copy with them for reference. They must carry the JK SET admit card to the exam hall on the exam day as no candidate will be allowed to sit for the exam without it.
University of Kashmir will release the result of JK SET 2019 in the month of April. The result will be released on the official website and candidates can check the same by entering the roll number as given in the admit card. The first step states that the minimum marks to be obtained in JK SET for considering a candidate eligible for Assistant Professor is that General Category candidates must obtain minimum of 40% in Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III whereas Candidates belonging to different Reserved Categories have to obtain a minimum of 35% in Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III.
The second step says that amongst those candidates who cleared step I, a merit list will be prepared subject-wise and category-wise using the aggregate marks of all the three papers secured by such candidates.
The third and last step states that the top 6% of the appearing candidates who appear in all the three papers who secure atleast 40% aggregate marks for candidates belonging to General Category and atleast 35% aggregate marks for candidates belonging to reserved categories, from the merit list mentioned under step II, will qualify JK SET exam 2019.
