About GES Class 1 and Class 2 2019

Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) conducts GPSC GES class I and II exam. Candidates with a graduation degree in civil engineering or technology from any of the universities under the Central or a State Act in India and must be between 20 to 35 years of age can apply for the exam. GPSC GES class 1 and class 2 exam 2019 will be held in three stages - 1) Prelim exam 2) Main exam and 3) Interview. GPSC GES Prelims 2019 exam will weigh 500 marks. This will be an objective type, multiple choice based paper. GES Main exam will weigh 800 marks and will be a written-type exam. Interview for GPSC GES  will carry a weightage of 100 marks.

GES Class 1 and Class 2 2019 Eligibility Criteria

1) The applicant must have either of the following educational qualifications. To be eligible for GPSC GES class 1 and class 2 exam, the candidate must:

  • Have done graduation in Civil Engineering or Technology from any of the Universities under the Central or a State Act in India, or, any other educational institution declared to be deemed as a University; or, 
  • Posses an equivalent qualification recognized by the Government; or;
  • Have passed Section A and B in Civil Engineering of the Institution Examination of the Institute of Engineers (India), Kolkata; or,
  • Have a degree of Bachelor of Construction Technology or five-year Diploma in Construction Technology from CEPT University, Ahmedabad or School of Building Science & Technology, Ahmedabad.

2) Aspirants declared qualified in Prelims will need to produce proof of passing the degree examination along with their application for the Main Examination. An Applicant who fails to do so will not be allowed to give GPSC GES class 1 and 2 Main exams. The applicant applying for GPSC GES class 1 and 2 Main exams should also have:

  • The basic knowledge of Computer Application as prescribed in the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.
  • Adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both.

3) Age: The applicants must not be younger than 20 years of age and not be older than 35 years of age as on March 31, 2018. Age will be calculated as on the last date of receipt of application. Upper age limit will be relaxed if the applicant belongs to any of the following communities and is not more than 45 years of age:

  • 5 Years: S. & E.B.C., SC and ST (Male candidates of Gujarat origin or women candidates of unreserved categories or Ex-Servicemen.
  • 10 years: Person with disability/differently-abled person or women candidates of reserved categories.

Step 1: Click on the application link provided on this page.

Step 2: Go to "online application".

Step 3: Click on details of the appropriate advertisement of GPSC GES class 1 and class 2 exam.

Step 4: Read the instructions thoroughly and click on "apply now".

Step 5: Fill in your particulars in appropriate fields and avoid using any special characters like, < > % ' ( ) & + - ; ! , . * etc.

Step 6: While filling in 'Educational Qualifications', you can only mention your scores in percentage, percentile or grade points. You will have to provide information like grades, exam body, class, passing year etc.

Step 7: After filling educational qualifications and additional details, aspirants are advised to read the instructions for uploading the photo, signature and such.

Step 8: Confirm your application.

Step 9: To pay offline through post office challan, click on 'Print Challan' and read the instructions further.

Step 10: To pay online through Credit card, Debit card or SBI Buddy, click on 'Online payment of fees'.

Step 11: Print at least 3-5 copies of the application form and keep soft copies of the form as well.

This exam will have a weightage of 100 marks and applicants will have to attempt this question paper in 2 hours. In Part-2, applicants will have to tackle Engineering Aptitude exam for 100 marks.
  • Paper-II will ask applicants questions in Civil Engineering and the paper will weigh 300 marks. Aspirants will be required to attempt this paper within 3 hours.

The total time duration for both parts is 5 hours and GPSC GES Prelims exam 2019 will weigh 500 marks.

GES Class 1 and Class 2 Main Exam Exam Pattern

Exam pattern for GPSC GES class 1 and 2 Main exam will be beneficial for preparation of students as it will help students in figuring out the exam dynamics like marking scheme, standard and types of questions, weightage of topics etc. The exam will be conducted in form of five papers. GES Class 1 and Class 2 2019 Selection Process

The selection process for GPSC GES will be based on three stages of exams. The first stage will be Prelims examination which will weigh 500 marks. This exam will test the aspirants in two papers consisting of questions from general studies, engineering aptitude and basics of Civil Engineering. Students who clear this stage will move on to the second stage of the exam which is the Main examination. There will be five papers in this stage and questions will be asked from English & Gujarati language and advanced Civil Engineering. The rigorous GPSC GES Main exam will weigh 800 marks. Students who qualify both the stages will be asked to appear in Interview. The Interview round will weigh 100 marks and will be the final round of GPSC GES class 1 and 2 2019.
