About TNPSC Civil Judge 2023

TNPSC Civil Judge 2023 - The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission will declare the TNPSC Civil Judge 2023 result for prelims soon on the official website. The provisional TNPSC Civil Judge 2023 answer key has been released on August 23. Candidates raised objections against the TNPSC Civil Judge answer key 2024 up yo August 30.

The exam authorities released the TNPSC Civil Judge notification on June 1. Candidates who fulfil minimum eligibility submitted their TNPSC Civil Judge application form 2023 by June 30. Candidates were given chances to make corrections in the TNPSC Civil Judge 2023 application form from July 5 to 7, 2023.

TNPSC Civil Judge 2023 exam contains three successive stages including preliminary, main and viva voce. Candidates who qualify in the preliminary exam have to appear in the main examination (descriptive type). Candidates have to score minimum qualifying marks to participate in the further stages of the recruitment.

Candidates will be shortlisted for the viva voce test based on the ratio of 1:2 or 1:3 with reference to the number of vacancies. If candidates score less than the minimum marks prescribed for viva voce test, they are not eligible for final selection.

Educational Qualification: He/she should have possessed a bachelor's degree in law from any university established in India or a university recognized under the advocate’s act, 1961.

He/she should possess a Degree in Law of a University in India or University incorporated by or under a Central Act or a State Act or an Institution recognized by the UGC, or any other equivalent qualification and enrolled in the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu or in the Bar Council of any other State in India

He/she must be practicing as an Advocate or Pleader in any Court on the date of Notification for recruitment to the post and he/she must have so practiced for a period of not less than three years on that date.

He/she must be an Assistant Public Prosecutor having not less than three years of experience as an Advocate or Assistant Public Prosecutor.

Fresh Law Graduates

He/she must be a fresh Law graduate possessing a degree in Law from a recognized University.

He/she should be eligible to be enrolled as an advocate

He/she must have scored an overall percentage of marks in the bachelor’s degree of law as given below,

Reserved categories (SC, SC(A), ST, MBC/DC, BC(OBCM) and BCM) -  45% Marks.

Other category - 50% Marks

He/she should have obtained the bachelor’s degree of law within a period of three years prior to the date of notification.

TNPSC Civil Judge 2023 Application Process

Mode of Payment : Net Banking | Credit Card | Debit Card | NEFT | Bank Challan | Other

TNPSC Civil Judge Application Procedure: Candidates would be able to apply for TNPSC Civil Judge exam through online mode only. Candidates would have log in ID and password to apply for the Tamil Nadu Civil Judge exam. Applicants who have registered in One Time Registration shall use their existing user ID and password to fill the TNPSC Civil Judge online application form.

TNPSC One Time Registration (OTR):

  • One Time Registration is the collection of information from the applicants and providing a separate dashboard to maintain their own profile.
  • For applying in One Time Registration, the candidates should have scanned soft copies of their passport-sized photo and signature in a CD/DVD/Pen drive.
  • Candidates should provide their particular details including SSLC Register Number, Month & Year of Passing and Name of the Board while registering online.
  • A valid e-mail ID and mobile number are mandatory for OTR because TNPSC will send all messages and communications to the registered e-mail ID and mobile number.

TNPSC Civil Judge Application Form Process:

  • The candidate needs to log in by using the user ID and password.
  • Candidates have to fill up the additional details required for Tamil Nadu State Judicial Service application.
  • After submitting the details in the online application form, candidates can choose any one of the modes for making payment of the exam fee.
  • Examination fee – Rs.500
  • For One Time Registration Fee– Rs.150 (One Time Registration is valid for five years from the date of registration.)
  • Payment Method: Online/Offline.
  • Online Mode: Net Banking/Credit card/Debit card.
  • Offline Mode: Fee can be paid offline at State Bank of India/Indian Bank within two days from the date of submission of the online application by choosing the challan option
  • Candidates have to wait for the intimation from the server while making the online fee payment.
  • Candidates need not send the hard copy of the online application form or any other supporting documents to the TNPSC.

The preliminary examination consists of one paper of objective type containing 100 multiple choice questions, each carrying one mark. The questions will be asked in both Tamil and English. Maximum marks will be 100 and ½ mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer. The duration of the prelims exam will be two hours. The candidates will be shortlisted based on the marks obtained in the preliminary exam. These marks will not be considered for the final merit list of the candidates.

For judiciary exam :-

You must have enrolled in 3 year or 5year law degree.


Candidates qualified to be admitted as Advocates under Advocates Act, 1961 OR candidates currently practising as Advocates in India.

That's it.

No other qualification is required.
