UPSC Civil Services prelims 2016 held on August 7

UPSC Civil Services prelims 2016 held on August 7 Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducted the UPSC preliminary examination on August 7, 2016 across India. The exam was conducted in two slots- Paper 1 and Paper 2-in the pen and paper based mode. Paper 1 was held in the morning session from 9:30 am to 11:30, while the second Paper started at 2:30 pm and continued till 4:30 pm. Approximately 10 lakh candidates registered for the civil service examination this year.

According to the experts from leading coaching institutes, majority of the questions in UPSC Civil Service 2016 preliminary exam were from system and governance, current affairs, social and economic law. Unlike previous years, there was less number of questions from Geography in this year’s paper.  In science and technology, contemporary topics have been given more weight.

Candidates who will qualify the preliminary exam will be allowed to appear in the mains exam scheduled to be conducted from December 3, 2016 onwards. Candidates who appeared in UPSC Civil Services preliminary exam 2016 can download the UPSC Prelims 2016 answer key released by various coaching institutes to know their marks as per their performance. 

The UPSC Civil Services 2016 is conducted to select candidates for as many as 1079 posts like IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS, IRTS, etc.
