Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will release notification for Constables (GD) in CAPFs, NIA, SSF and Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles examination on July 21, 2018. As per media sources, around 57,000 vacancies are likely to be announced by SSC. SSC GD Constable exam will be held after a gap of two years. Earlier, the exam was held in 2015 and did not happen in 2016 and 2017.
The online SSC GD Constable application form for the exam will be available from July 21 to August 20, 2018. Aspirants, who wish to apply for the exam must have passed Class 10th and should be 18 to 23 years of age. SSC GD Constable selection procedure comprises Physical Standards Test (PST), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Written (online and offline) and medical examination.
As per the exam pattern, the written exam will consist of objective type questions carrying 100 marks. Questions will be asked from General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Knowledge and General Awareness, Elementary Mathematics and English/Hindi.
Selection of candidates for the post of GD Constable will be done based on candidate’s rank in the merit list as well as preferences of forces exercised by them. The minimum cutoff percentage for selection for General and Ex-Servicemen category is 35% while it is 33% for SC/ST/OBC.
GD Constable are responsible for the overall activities in absence of Assistant Sub-Inspector and Sub-Inspectors. They are entitled to the basic salary of Rs 5,200-20,000 with a grade pay of Rs 2,000.
In 2015, as many as 11,65,942 candidates appeared for the exam, out of which total 1,17,008 male and 14,618 female candidates qualified the written exam.
