Is BA POLITICAL SCIENCE HONS is helpful to acheive ssc cgl posts easily. Or name some useful degrees to acheive ssc cgl.

Yashu Shrivastava 26th Jan, 2020

Hello Manikantha

Yes,BA in Political Science Hons is very beneficial if your aim is to crack SSC CGL,because in BA in Political Science the course is related to History,Geography and Polity, which is also in course of SSC CGL. Although there are many other topics like GK,Current Affairs which you can read by books or newspaper.

If you want some other courses,i would suggest you to do BE/B.tech or any courses related to Mathematics because they have a section of Maths and it comes for huge marks,so it does matter a lot in exam if you have good maths it would be benficial.

I hope This Helps

Hello,

First get your concepts clear, you can start off with Grammar, learn all the important topics such as Subject-Verb Agreement, Preposition, Noun, Pronoun, Adjective, Adverb, Active & Passive Voice, Narration etc. You can go through Wren and Martin for this, Having a strong foundation on grammmar will enable you to solve sentence reaarangement, fill in the blanks, error detection etc,

You can work on your vocabulary by reading any newspaper or going through Word Power Made Easy, it's a wonderful book for vocabulary.

Once you have gone through aforementioned steps, then try solving any English Book, you can choose between Plinth to Paramount or SP Bakshi. Along with this, go through previous year papers, anaylse on a regular basis.

how should I start preparation for SSC CGL .I am now in BTech 2nd year civil engineering I give maximum 3 hours daily ,then possible for me

Aditi Amrendra Student Expert 24th Jan, 2020
Hello,

SSC CGL is a popular government exam among candidates and lakhs of aspirant apply for this exam. This exam is conducted in 4 tiers.

SSC CGL Tier I which is also called Preliminary exam.
The major sections asked in Preliminary Exam are General Awareness, Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude and English Language of 20 question each.

SSC CGL Tier II also called mains exam.
The Mains Exam is conducted online and is an objective multiple choice exam.
The areas from which question is asked in Mains Exam are Quantitative Aptitude, English Language and Comprehension, Statistics, General Studies (Finance and Economics) with No. of Questions being 200 in English and 100 in other 3.

SSC CGL Tier III
It is a descriptive exam to test the written skills of the candidates in English/Hindi. The mode of examination is offline (Pen and Paper mode) and students are required to write essays, prcis, application, letter etc.. The exam is of 100 marks and the time allotted is 60 minutes

SSC CGL Tier IV
This exam is to test DEST (Data Entry Speed Test) where the candidates are given an article in English which they have to type on Computer. A candidate is required to type 2000 words in 15 minutes.

CPT (Computer Proficiency Test): Requires a candidate to be proficient in Word Processing, Spread Sheets and Generation of slides skills.

As you mentioned you are currently in you B.Tech 2nd year and you are devoting 3 hours everyday. If you will keep preparing consistently I am sure you can crack this exam in one go.
This amount of time is good in the initial preparation because you have to cover you college syllabus also.
But you must prepare for this exam in a planned way.
Try to give more time in the subject or section you are weak at.I assume you must be having a good mathematics so you should not devote much time to that and instead you should working on your weak subject like suppose you English is weak then try to focus more on that.
You have plenty if time left so you can prepare for GS portion with ease. You should deviate 20-30 minutes everyday into that.
Start reading the topics in the exam that are new like Economics must be new to you so go through past year question papers and try to understand the questions.

You must prepare for the syllabus from the standards books only.

Initially its okay to start with 3 hours but be consistent and try to increase time gradually and in your final year prepare with more pace and efficiency because this exam is very competitive and you will have to be staring in each area to crack this exam.

And finally, be consistent, disciplined ,have patience and perseverance because this is all it takes to crack any exam.

I hope this helps.
