West Bengal Schools Sub-Inspector Eligibility Criteria:

Age Limit: Maximum age is 36 years as on August 1, 2018

Education Qualification:


  • A second class Honours or a second class Master’s degree of a recognized University or its equivalent

  • A Bachelor degree in Teaching or Education from a recognized University or its equivalent

  • Good knowledge in Bengali/Nepali – spoken and written

  • Ability to undertake extensive tour on official duty


  • Teaching experience in Schools

  • Ability to organize extra-curricular activities

West Bengal Schools Sub-Inspector Selection Process:

As per the official notification, the prescribed ‘essential qualifications’ are the minimum and mere possession of the same does not entitle applicants to be called in for the interview. Where the number of applications received is large then to a reasonable number of candidates will be called for interview on the basis of either higher qualification in the relevant subjects/higher standard of marks/grade obtained in the essential qualifications or experience in relevant field higher or on the basis of a Screening Test/Written Test. The Commission may fix qualifying cut-off marks for all the categories of the vacancies in each level of examination, i.e. written, interview and aggregate.
