NTA conducts the CSIR UGC NET exam twice every year to determine the eligibility of candidates for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Lectureship. The exam is conducted in June and December every year. This year the exam for June session is scheduled to be conducted on June 21, 2020. Candidates planning to appear for the exam must meet the eligibility criteria of CSIR UGC NET 2020 before applying. The eligibility criteria are determined by NTA itself on the basis of - Nationality, Age and Education Qualification. Check the complete eligibility criteria here -

CSIR NET Eligibility Criteria 2020 - Check all Details Before Applying

Nationality - Indian

CSIR UGC NET 2020 Educational Qualification:

B.Sc (Hons) with integrated MS-PhD program with not less than 55% marks for General and OBC and not less than 50% marks for SC/ST and PwD can apply.

Candidates must hold Masters degree in Science with not less than 55% marks for General and OBC and not less than 50% marks for SC/ST and PwD can apply.

Candidates who hold a PhD and have passed Masters degree can apply.

CSIR UGC NET 2020 Age limit:

For JRF - Upper age limit must not be more than 28 years. Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD categories and female candidates get an upper age relaxation of 5 years

For Lecturership - No age limit.

Those candidates who meet all the above-mentioned eligibility criteria will only be able to fill the application form of CSIR UGC NET 2020 from March 16 to April 15.

Hi Mohita,

As per the eligibility criteria for CSIR UGC NET the candidate must have completed his or her graduation in in B.Pharma or BE or B. Tech or MSc or MBBS or Integrated BS-MS or any other science degree with at least 55% marks. Since you have a graduate degree in B.Pharma you are eligible to appear for the exam.


I have done B.Sc Zoology & Chemistry but next M.Sc Zoology completed what i can do this exma CSIR UGC NET

Hi aspirant,

Yes you can do. You can apply for CSIR NET exam with your post graduation eligibility. They don't look about the cross majors. It is one of the toughest exams in India and at the same time best exam which can give you a chance to get a lecturer job in colleges and Junior research fellow position in research institutes and colleges with a stipend of 31000 with HRA.
