Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced notification for Combined Defence Services Examination (CDS I) for the year 2016 on November 7, 2015. The commission will be conducting CDS (I) 2016 on February 14. You need to check the eligibility criteria of CDS (I) 2016 before filling in the application forms.
UPSC has notified as many as 457 vacancies for CDS (I) 2016 in five courses – Indian Military Academy (IMA) Dehradun, India Naval Academy (INA) Ezhimala, Air Force Academy Hyderabad, Officers Training Academy (OTA) Chennai for Men and Officers Training Academy (OTA) Chennai for Women.
As per the eligibility criteria of CDS (I) 2016, you need to have qualified the Bachelor’s degree programme in different disciplines as per your choice of course and should not be greater than 22 years of age.
You need to apply for CDS (I) 2016 between November 7 and December 4, 2015 in online mode, wherein you will have to remit an application fee of Rs. 200.
CDS (I) 2016 shall be conducted on February 14 at as many as 40 exam centres in India. The test shall be offline mode comprising as many as 300 questions for all courses except OTA. Those applying for OTA will need to answer a maximum of 200 questions.
Each question shall carry 1 mark. UPSC also follows a negative marking policy under which 0.33 marks shall be deducted for wrong answers marked in the offline paper of CDS (I) 2016.
The offline paper of CDS (I) 2016 shall comprise questions from the following sections – English, general Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics wherein each section shall have a maximum of 100 questions.

age limit is 24 or 25 years old according to post wise. you may apply in Indian Military Academy (IMA), Indian Naval Academy (NA), Air Force Academy (AFA), Officers' Training Academy (OTA - Men), Officers Training Academy (OTA - Women, Non-Technical).

cds exam happens twice a year. the following age criteria is applicable to appear in cds exam:
For Indian Military Academy (IMA), unmarried candidates born not before than January 2, 1997 and not later than January 1, 2002 can only apply.
For Indian Naval Academy (IMA), unmarried male candidates born not earlier than January 2, 1997 and not later than January 1, 2002 are eligible.
for Air Force Academy candidate should be between 20 to 24 years as on January 1, 2021 (born not earlier than January 2, 1997 and not later than January 1, 2001).
For Officers’ Training Academy (SSC Course for men), unmarried male candidates born not before than January 2, 1996 and not later than January 1, 2002 are eligible for the exam.
For Officers’ Training Academy (SSC Women Non-Technical Course), candidates should be unmarried and born not earlier than January 2, 1996 and not later than January 1, 2002.
