    NTA extends UGC NET 2021 registration date to March 9.

About UGC NET 2021

National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the UGC NET to test the eligibility of candidates as Assistant Professors and to award the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). The UGC NET exam is conducted twice a year in June and December. UGC NET 2021 exam pattern includes two papers - Paper-I and Paper-II. Paper-1 is conducted to test the teaching and research ability of the candidates. Questions asked in Paper-I are based on reasoning ability, reading comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness. Paper-2 is designed to test the knowledge of the subjects that the candidates have opted for NTA UGC NET exam 2021.

The UGC NET 2021 exam date has been announced on February 2. UGC NET exam 2021 will be conducted on May 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 14 & 17 2021 in online mode. The top 6% of candidates who score the minimum qualifying marks will be considered qualified in the UGC NET 2021 exam. Qualified candidates will be issued UGC NET 2021 eligibility criteria certificates. The certificate for Lectureship will be valid for a lifetime while that for JRF will be valid for a period of three years. Candidates can apply to be Lecturers, of the subject that they have selected for the exam in UGC recognized universities using these certificates. NTA will release the NTA UGC NET 2021 answer key on the official website only. UGC NET 2021 result for the June session will be declared in online mode.

UGC NET 2021 Eligibility Criteria

NTA has issued the eligibility criteria of UGC NET 2021 along with the official notification. Candidates who satisfy the eligibility criteria can appear for the UGC NET 2021 exam. The eligibility criteria consist of details like age limit and academic qualifications. Candidates must check eligibility criteria details clearly before filling the UGC NET 2021 application form. 

UGC NET 2021 Educational Qualification

  • 55% marks in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from institutions/universities recognized by UGC in subjects like Computer Science &Applications Humanities, Social Science, Electronic Science, etc.   
  • 50% marks in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination for Scheduled Caste(SC)/Scheduled Tribe(ST)/ persons with disability(PwD) and Other Backward Classes(OBC) belonging to non-creamy layer.
  • Candidates who are Ph.D. degree holders and completed their Master’s level examination and waiting for the declaration of the result are eligible with 5% relaxation in aggregate marks (i.e.  55% to 50%).
  • Candidates with master’s degree or those who are appearing in their final year of master’s exam or those who are waiting for their results can apply for this exam. However, candidates have to pass their master’s degree to be considered eligible for the award of Junior Research Fellowship/Eligibility for Assistant Professor.    
  • Candidates who have done post-graduate diploma/ Institute or foreign degree/certificate awarded by the foreign.
  • University/diploma/certificate awarded by Indian University must check their ascertain the equivalence of their diploma/degree certificate with Master’s degree of recognized Indian universities from Association of  Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi.

UGC NET 2021 Age limit

  • Candidates must be 30 years to be eligible for Junior Research Fellowship.
  • There is no upper age limit for Assistant Professor.

NTA has released the application form of UGC NET 2021 in online mode on the official website on February 02, 2021. Candidates can fill the UGC NET application form by March 09, 2021. Candidates can fill UGC NET application form 2021 in four stages. While doing the UGC NET 2021 registration, candidates should keep all necessary documents along with them. 

Documents Needed to fill UGC NET application form 2021:

  • Valid E-mail ID and Mobile Number 
  • Aadhaar Card Number/Voter ID Card/ Other Govt ID
  • Qualifying Degree Certificate or last semester marks sheet
  • Copy of Board/University Certificate
  • Category Certificate, if applicable for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) Certificate, Person with Disability (PwD) Certificate

How to fill UGC NET 2021 Application Form (June attempt)

1st Stage: UGC NET Registration - 

  • Candidates need to register for the exam by furnishing the details like name, email- id, mobile number, date of birth, gender, address, etc., 
  • After the submission of these details, candidates will have to choose a password of their choice and select a security question with an answer and click on the submit button.
  • UGC NET 2021 application number will be sent to the registered mobile number and email after successful completion of the registration process.

2nd Stage: Filling the UGC NET Application Form - Candidates have to select a subject, exam centre, category, educational details, and other important details without any mistakes.

3rd Stage: Uploading Required Documents - Applicants will be required to upload scanned images of photograph and signature as per the prescribed format.
