National Defence Academy (NDA) and Naval Academy (NA) examination is conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for the admission to Navy, Air Force and Army. NDA/NA is conducted twice a year in April and November. NDA I is conducted in April while NDA 2 is held in November. The notification of NDA is released along with the application form. The Commission will also release the facility to withdraw application form for the candidates who will register successfully. Candidates who are between 16.5 to 19.5 years of age can apply for NDA exam. The selection process of NDA exam comprises two stages – written and Service Selection Board (SSB) Interview.

To be eligible for NDA exam, candidates must check the eligibility criteria which include educational qualification, physical standards, marital status, nationality and age limit.
Educational Qualification for NDA/NA:
Candidates applying for Army Wing of National Defence Academy should be 12th pass or 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination
Air Force, Navy and Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy

NDA application form is available online. The application can be filled in two parts. Part 1 of registration includes filling up of candidate’s basic details, choosing the branch, verification of details and registration id generation. Part 2 of the application form includes fee payment, exam centre selection and uploading of signature and photograph.
NDA Part 1– Registration
Part 2 of NDA registration is divided into four stages. In stage 1 candidates have to fill the basic details including name, gender, father’s and mother’s name, community, nationality, fee remission, marital status, address etc. In Stage 2, candidates have to choose the branch as per their preference like Navy, Army and Air force. Candidates from Military/Sainik School or Son of NCO/JCO/Other Rank Officer have to enter details asked in the application form. In stage 3, candidates must verify the details filled and if required they can make changes by clicking on ‘Update’ button. After filling all the credentials candidates are able to see the registration id, other details and print the pay-in-slip to pay the application fees offline.
NDA Part 2 – Registration
In Part 2 of registration, candidates have to select the mode of payment through online or offline mode. The application fee is Rs. 100 for General category and OBC candidates while SC, ST and Sons of NCOs, JCOs ORs are exempted from fee payment. Candidates also have to select exam centres from the prescribed list of centres by UPSC and Upload the scanned signature and photograph. The final stage candidates are asked to read the declaration and click on “I have read Declaration & Agree” to finally submit NDA application form and its print out.

NDA Preparation Tips
To start the preparation of NDA exam candidates must know the exam pattern, syllabus and tips to prepare. Candidates must know the strategies to crack NDA exam, benefits of solving previous years’ question papers and day to day practice of written exam. To score good marks candidates must focus on the weak areas and practice it on daily basis. It is important for the candidates appearing in NDA exam that they have clear ideas about the basic concepts of Mathematics.
As per NDA exam pattern, there are two papers for NDA written exam - Mathematics and General Ability Test (GAT). The Mathematics paper carries 300 marks where questions will be asked from various topics. For each wrong answer, 1/3 marks will be deducted. The exam will be conducted for 2 hours 30 minutes.

The paper of NDA written exam comprises General Ability Test (GAT). This paper will be held separately for 600 marks. Candidates will be given 2 and 1/2 hours to complete the exam. NDA Admit card
The admit card of NDA written exam is released online. Candidates can download the admit card till the day of examination. In order to download NDA admit card, candidates have to enter either their registration id or roll number. Candidates will have to carry admit card and photo-identity proof on the day of examination.

NDA Answer Key
Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) releases the official answer key of NDA. Candidates can check number of correct and incorrect answers through the official answer key which can help them calculate their probable score. Some coaching institutes also release the answer key within few hours of NDA written exam where candidates can download and check their answers.
NDA Exam Analysis: Exam analysis of NDA includes section wise difficulty of the exam and paper 1 & paper 2 and over all difficulty level of the exam. Along with this what could be the expected cut off of the exam should also need to be include in this section.

The final result of NDA exam is calculated out of 1800 marking including the total marks of written and SSB interview. Based on the all India merit list released by UPSC final allocation is done to Naval Academy and National Defence Academy.
NDA Cut off
Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) releases cutoff marks written and final marks. The cutoff is the minimum qualifying marks obtained by the candidates. Candidates have to score the overall as well as the sectional cutoff to be eligible for the next stage of the exam which will be fixed by UPSC.

NDA Selection Process: The Selection process of NDA involves two stages written exam followed by the interview process. On the basis of the marks secured in written exam candidates will be called for the next stage of selection process NDA selection process takes place for Army, Air force and Navy.
