    UGC NET Syllabus 2023 - The National Testing Agency will provide the UGC NET 2023 syllabus in its official notification for December 2023 session. The official UGC NET 2023 notification will be released at ugcnet.nta.nic.in. Candidates who going to appear in the UGC NET exam are required to check the UGC NET syllabus 2023 pdf to know the subjects, topics, and sub-topics on which the question paper is based. The syllabus of UGC NET 2023 will be released along with the NET exam pattern. As per the exam pattern, there are two papers in the NET exam. Paper 1 of the UGC NET exam is the same for all the candidates while paper 2 is optional and candidates can check and pick the subject as per their choice.

    There are a total of 83 subjects to choose from in Paper 2. Hindu Studies and Indian Knowledge System are the two subjects that have been newly added from previous session. UGC provided the detailed UGC NET exam syllabus 2023 for both papers 1 and 2 on its official website. Candidates must have complete knowledge of the syllabus of UGC NET 2023 before they start their exam preparation. The UGC NET exam was conducted to determine the eligibility of candidates for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor both, in Indian Universities and Colleges.

    For both papers, applicants must go through the UGC NET Syllabus 2023 pdf to know all the important topics. The aggregate performance will be based on the marks scored separately in Paper 1 and Paper 2. Let us understand UGC NET Syllabus for Paper 1 and Paper 2 in brief.

    • UGC NET Paper 1 Syllabus 2023 tests the teaching and research ability of the candidate. It assesses candidates’ cognitive abilities, general awareness about teaching and learning processes in the higher education system and interaction between people, and the environment.

    • The UGC NET Paper 2 Syllabus is focused on the subject of the candidate's choice. It measures the in-depth knowledge and expertise of the applicant in the respective subject.

    UGC NET 2023 Paper 1: Marking Scheme

    UGC NET Paper 1 is the same and mandatory for all candidates. Paper 2 is different for different subjects.

    • UGC NET Paper 1 will have a total of 50 multiple-choice questions.

    • Each question will carry 2 marks.

    • The UGC NET Syllabus 2023 for Paper 1 covers 10 units.

    • 5 questions will be asked from each unit (i.e. 10 units X 5 questions = 50 questions).

    Subject: General Paper on Teaching & Research Aptitude

    The UGC NET paper 1 syllabus for tests the candidate’s teaching and research ability as well as the aptitude of the candidate. The syllabus of UGC NET 2023 for Paper 1 is designed to test candidates’ cognitive abilities including comprehension, analysis, evaluation, understanding the structure of arguments, deductive and inductive reasoning.

    The UGC NET syllabus 2023 also provides for testing candidates’ general awareness of teaching and learning processes in the higher education system. Further, the syllabus of UGC NET 2023 assesses if the candidate is aware of the interaction between people, environment, natural resources and their impact on the quality of life.

    UGC NET Admit Card 2023

    National Testing Agency (NTA) released the UGC NET 2023 admit card for Phase 1 online on June 10, 2023 and Phase 2 on June 16, 2023 on the official website.     Not fully sure, but according to the University Grants Commission policies, you are eligible for taking UGC NET examination. This is because of the following reasons:

    • You must have completed your masters in social science computer science or applications electronic science etc from a recognised University.
    • You must have scored at least 55% marks in the aggregate for being eligible for University Grants Commission National eligibility test.
    • If your result is still awaited of master's degree, even then you can give University Grants Commission National eligibility test.

    However there are no details mentioned that masters in hotel management students can appear or not for UGC NET examination. However you can contact the the University Grants Commission for asking the same information.

    According to the ugc net eligibility, students must choose the examination for the subject that they studied after graduation. So you must first complete a postgraduate degree; undergraduates are not eligible for the UGCN.     Yes, you are eligible for the UGC NET exam because to apply for the exam candidates must have masters’ degree from the approved and recognized universities and IGNOU is a UGC approved University as per the latest eligibility criteria which is described as below :-

    • Open category/Unreserved category candidates need to have secured a minimum of 55% marks in Masters or equivalent.
    • OBC/ST/SC/PWD/Transgender candidates should have scored at least 50% marks in Masters or equivalent exam.
    • Candidates in their final year of master’s degree can also take the UGC NET 2020 exam, however, such candidates have to complete their degree with required NET qualification marks within 2 years.
    • As per the eligibility criteria of UGC NET Ph.D. degree holders with their master’s completed by September 19, 1992 can avail relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks. This means that such candidates must have secured at least 50% marks in masters.
    • Candidates with post-graduate diploma/certificate by Indian University/Institute or foreign degree/diploma/certificate by the foreign University/Institute have to ensure that their diploma/degree/certificate is equivalent to master’s degree recognized by Indian universities from Association of Indian Universities (AIU), NewDelhi.

    To apply for JRF your age must not exceed 30 years or if you are from SC/ST/PWD/OBC candidate then you will get 5 years age relaxation but for assistant professor no age criteria is applicable.

    UGC NET 2020: Exam rescheduled, to be held from September 24

    The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Monday postponed the UGC-NET June/ September exam 2020. The UGC-NET exam was scheduled to be conducted between September 16 and 25, but will now begin on September 24. Full schedule will be released subsequently.

    “In view of ICAR Examination AIEEA-UG/PG and AICE-JRF/SRF (Ph.D.) 2020-21 being conducted on the above mentioned dates, the National Testing Agency has rescheduled the dates of UGC-NET Examination 2020 (https://www.anujjindal.in/ugc-net-jrf-admit-card-eligibility-result/) . This is due to some common candidates in both exams and the requests received thereof. The UGC- NET 2020 Examination will now be held from 24th September onwards. The exact schedule of Subject-wise and Shift-wise details will be uploaded subsequently,” the official notice reads.

    NTA will conduct the ICAR AIEEA-UG/PG and AICE-JRF/SRF (Ph.D.) 2020-21 exams on September 16, 17, 22 and 23.

    The NTA UGC-NET exam was originally scheduled to be held from June 15 to 20, but had to be postponed to September in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic.

    NTA conducts the UGC-NET exam twice a year, for ‘Assistant Professor’ and for ‘Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor. The test consists of two papers. Both the papers will be conducted in single three hour duration. The exam will be held in computer-based test mode.
