UGC NET 2018 – National Testing Agency (NTA) has declared UGC NET result for December session on January 5, 2019. The result has been announced five days earlier the scheduled date of its release which was January 10, 2019. Along with UGC NET result, NTA has also released the subject-wise and category-wise cutoff marks. According to the official notification, as many as 44001 candidates have qualified for Assistant Professorship while 3883 have qualified for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professorship. A total of 956837 candidates had registered for the exam, out of which 681930 candidates qualified both the papers. To check UGC NET 2018 result, candidates will have to login with their application number, date of birth and security pin. As per UGC policy, 6% of candidates who appeared in both the papers and obtained the minimum qualifying marks are declared NET qualified. Certificates will be issued to the qualified candidates by UGC.
Earlier on December 29, 2018, NTA had released the answer key. UGC NET Dec 2018 was conducted from December 18 to 22, in online mode across 235 cities throughout the country. UGC NET or University Grants Commission - National Eligibility Test is conducted by NTA to determine the eligibility of candidates as Assistant Professor and awarding Junior Research Fellowship Programme (JRF). Qualifying UGC NET depends on the performance of candidates in two papers in aggregate. Candidates appearing for UGC NET 2018 exclusively for Assistant Professor will not be considered for JRF.

NTA has released the answer key of UGC NET 2018 for December session on December 29. Candidates can also challenge the UGC NET answer key 2018 till January 1, 2019 (5 pm). They also need to pay an amount of Rs. 1000 per question in order to challenge the answer key. Candidates can use the UGC NET answer key to make an estimation of their score. Merit list of UGC NET 2018 has been published along with UGC NET result 2018. The UGC NET merit list includes roll numbers of candidates who have qualified for the eligibility of Assistant Professor and award of JRF. The merit list of UGC NET 2018 has been made on the basis of the aggregate marks obtained by the candidates. Different merit lists has been prepared for those qualifying for JRF and those qualifying exam for Assistant Professor.
NTA has released UGC NET cut off 2018. Cut off of UGC NET 2018 is the minimum marks required to qualify the exam. The cut off is announced in two ways, one is the qualifying cut off and subject-wise cut off. As per UGC, general category candidates need to secure an aggregate of 40% and reserved category candidates need 35% aggregate marks in both the papers in order to qualify UGC NET 2018.
The pay scale of Assistant Professor has gone up with the 7th pay commission. The qualified candidates of UGC NET can apply for lecturership as Assistant Professors in universities and colleges recognized by UGC across India. While candidates qualifying UGC NET for JRF will get a monthly stipend to pursue PhD. Existing UGC pay scale for Assistant Professors before the 7th pay commission on entry level was around Rs. 47,000 and now it has been revised to be around Rs. 60,000. NTA started the mock test for 40 subjects. Candidates needed to register on the NTA website and then appear for UGC NET mock test 2018 at the test practice centres closer to their location. The test was conducted for the candidates to understand the process of computer-based test, get familiar with the type of questions, logging into the system and can experience the actual test.
UGC NET admit card 2018 for December session was released from November 19. Candidates had to login with their application number and password generated at the time of application to download UGC NET admit card 2018. Without possessing the admit card of UGC NET, no candidate is allowed to enter the examination hall. It is advised that the candidates take more than one copy of the admit card to avoid any hassle. They must carry their admit card and photo IDs to exam centres at the time of examination. The eligibility criteria of UGC NET 2018 is majorly related to the following:
Educational Qualification Criteria of UGC NET 2018 - Candidates who have scored 55% marks in Masters degree or equivalent from a recognized university are eligible to apply. However, candidates belonging to reserved category will be given 5% relaxation.
Age Criteria of UGC NET 2018 - For Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), candidates should not be more than 30 years of age as on December 1, 2018, while for Assistant Professor there is no upper age limit.
National Testing Agency (NTA) has released UGC NET exam centres 2018 for December session. The exam centres of UGC NET 2018 include the list of states and cities with centre codes where the test is being conducted. The exam was conduced at 598 centres in 91 cities across the country. Candidates had to select 4 exam centres of UGC NET 2018 in order of their preference (where they want to take the test) while filling the application form. The candidates are allotted UGC NET exam centres 2018 based on the order in which the exam centre choices have been made and as per the availability of any centre.
As mentioned in the notification, the exam pattern of UGC NET 2018 has been changed. There are two papers instead of three. It is important that the candidates check the exam pattern of UGC NET 2018 to understand the essential details like mode of the examination, time duration, the language of the question papers, number of questions, patterns of Paper-I and II, etc.
The question papers of UGC NET will be bilingual (Hindi & English).
UGC NET 2018 will be conducted in computer-based mode.
Each question in both papers I and II will carry 2 marks. There will be no negative marking for wrong answers. All questions in both papers I and II will be compulsory.
Paper-I will have 50 questions of objective nature. It will assess the candidates of their teaching ability and research aptitude. Paper-I will carry 100 marks.
UGC NET paper-II will have 100 questions based on the subjects chosen by the candidate. Paper-II will carry 200 marks.

Questions of UGC NET paper-I will be based on reasoning ability, general awareness, comprehension and divergent thinking. Candidates must attempt all 50 questions compulsorily.
Candidates can pick subjects from a list of around 85 subjects for paper-II. 100 questions will be asked from the subjects that the candidates choose. All questions will be mandatory.
