Mayank Garg: Candidates should focus on clearing their basics at the beginning of their preparation. After clearing the fundamentals and understanding the SSC CGL exam topics, subjects and pattern of exam, candidates should start working on their strategy and take practice tests and full length SSC mock tests.

Mayank Garg: Following are the section-wise preparation tips for SSC CGL exam.
General Intelligence and Reasoning: To improve this section, candidates should try to strengthen their basics and practice regularly.
General Awareness: Questions in this section are asked from various topics therefore, candidates should read newspapers, magazines and current affair books.
Quantitative Aptitude: Candidates need to brush up the topics like percentage, profit & loss, ratio & proportion, speed distance & time, boat & stream, data interpretation which they have learnt earlier in their high school. First they need to clear their doubts and memorise the formulae. Make notes of the formulas as it helps in revision.
English Comprehension: Prepare a table of tenses and their rules, active and passive voice and other important grammar topics. Read newspapers and magazines to improve this section.

Mayank Garg: General Intelligence and Reasoning: Classification, Coding-Decoding, Analogy, Venn Diagram, Series and Non-Verbal Reasoning, Direction & Distances, Missing Number, Blood Relations, Verbal Reasoning and Visual Reasoning.
Quantitative Aptitude: Geometry, Trigonometry, Algebra and Mensuration etc.
English Comprehension: Cloze test, error spotting, fill in the blanks, reading comprehension etc.

Mayank Garg: The most important part of preparation is writing mocks. Besides writing a mock, thorough analysis of each mock is mandatory. It tells candidates about their current stage of preparation, strengths and where they need to improve.

Mayank Garg: Here is the plan that candidates can follow while writing the mock test.
After attempting the mock, candidates should check their score and go through the complete test again.
Look for the solution of questions that candidates attempted wrong. Make sure the same mistake is not repeated again.
Questions that candidates were unable to solve, should be attempted again.
In SSC CGL exam, candidates will always find 10 to 15 questions that do not need to be solved to get answer. Hit and trial can work for these types. While attempting a mock, candidates must identify the questions that can be attempted by putting an option.

Mayank Garg: Three mocks a week is more than enough. Proper analysis of each mock that candidates attempt is important. Regular revision of concepts and formulae is another part you must take care of.

Mayank Garg: Sectional tests provide candidates to understand how well they prepared in each section of the exam. While taking sectional test candidates must make sure that the time devoted to each question is as per the level of question.

Mayank Garg: In the last minute, candidates should focus on developing in-depth understanding of topics, subjects, concepts, basics etc. Revise and take mock tests regularly. Candidates should not take up new topics for preparation rather focus on the ones they have learnt so far. Try to keep calm and patience.
