SSC CGL 2014 Tier 1 Answer Key
SSC CGL 2014 Tier I Objective-Type Paper, with 2 hour duration, carried a total of 200 marks and was divided into four parts –
- General Intelligence
- General Awareness
- Quantitative Aptitude
- English Comprehension
Each part carried 50 marks each. There was negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
Candidates, who secure minimum qualifying marks fixed by SSC in the Written Exam, will be called for Personality Test cum Interview/Computer Proficiency Test/Skill Test. These tests are qualifying in nature and the commission will recommend the qualifying candidates of this round for appointment on the basis of their performance in the written test.

To become an income tax inspector a candidate must have a bachelor degree from any stream of a recognised university or college .
Maximum age requirement for this 27 years while minimum age limit is 18 years .
Else a candidate should first of all enter the Income Tax Department as Income Tax Inspector or Tax Assistant. After that he will be get promotion to the designation of Income Tax Officer after qualifying the departmental examination. At last through interview you will be selected as an income tax inspector .

You have to focus on your studies and if you feel you are not able to absorb certain things then practice them again and again that can help you in a very good way . You will get the positive outcome. I tell this to all the students is you are half way through if you are positive . So don't worry just focus , sit back check the syllabus. Make time table according to you .
Just start preparing for what you are aiming for . And SSC cgl is not the only thing left in the world . I am not sure about your studies as in what you are pursuing currently. So don't worry be positive and aim for the goal . You will definitely achieve

The eligibility criteria is different for each post in SSC CGL. The eligibility criteria is as follows
- Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer: Candidate muts have bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university Preferably in Company Secretary or Chartered Accountant or Masters in Commerce or Cost & Management Accountant or Masters in Business Studies or Masters in Business Administration (Finance) or Masters in Business Economics.
Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) Post: Candidate must have passed bachelor’s degree in any discipline with minimum 60% Marks in mathematics in class or bachelor’s degree in any discipline with Statistics as one of the subjects.
Statistical Investigator Grade-II: Candidate must have passed bachelor’s degree in any discipline with Statistics as one of the subjects (in all the years of the graduation course).
Other Posts: Candidate must have passed bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
Age must be in between 18-32 years and age criteria is different for each post. For reserved categories, ex-servicemen, ECOs/SSCOs, Central government employees, Widows, divorced women, separated women there is an age relaxation which is different for each category. So you need to check the eligibility criteria before applying for any post in SSC CGL. Each exam has its own eligibility criteria which you need to check before applying.

If you want to prepare for both you can go ahead, the syllabus of OTA consists of General Knowledge and English, each consists of 120 questions for 100 marks, so total marks is 200, the language paper is bilingual and exam is conducted for two hours.
The best part about OTA and SSC CGL is both the section aforementioned comes in SSC CGL as well, in addition to this there are quant and reasoning section. If you want to prepare for both exams , you have to balance it out. For English section, the best book is Wren and Martin for Grammar, Word power made easy for vocabulary, and you can use Plinth to Paramount/General English by SP Bakshi for practice and understanding concepts. For General Knowledge, static portion can be covered by books like Lucent' GK, and for dynamic portion it's best to read newspaper on a daily basis,you can read The Hindu or The Indian Express regarding this. You can follow this procedure in case of SSC CGL as well.
When it comes to Quant Section of SSC CGL, you can use any of RK Agarwal's Quantitative Aptitude, M Tyra's Magical book on Quicker Maths, Arihant's Fast Track Objective Arithmetic. In case of reasoning, you can use MK Pandey's Analytical Reasoning, RK Agarwal's Verbal and Nonverbal Reasoning.
First get conceptual understanding and then practice it accordingly, you may find free mock papers at various sites of competitive exams, also go through previous year paper.
