The exam of SBI Clerk is held in three stages – prelims, mains and local language test. Candidate qualifying in all the stages of SBI Clerk selection process will be shortlisted in the final merit list.
Preliminary Exam - The first stage in the selection process of SBI clerk is the prelims exam. On qualifying this stage, candidate will have to appear for the mains exam. However, prelims exam is just qualifying in nature and marks secured in this stage will not be considered while preparing the final merit list.
Mains Exam - Candidates qualifying the prelims will appear this next stage i.e the mains exam. This stage is very important since the final merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks secured in mains exam. Thus, the mains qualified candidates will be recruited as Clerk at SBI.
Local Language Test - After the final merit list is out, candidates who have not studied the opted language in class 10 and 12 as per their documents produced will have to take the local language test. However, candidates who have studied the opted local language in class 10 and 12 will not have to appear for the language test. Candidates who are not found to be proficient in specified opted local language will be disqualified from the selection process.
All those candidates who are considered qualified will receive a basic pay of Rs. 11765. After three years of working at SBI as Junior Associates/Clerks, the employee becomes eligible for being promoted to Trainee Officers. However, to be promoted candidates will have to qualify the written test and interview. All those who qualify the exam will have to complete two years of probation period.
