NDA 2019 – Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will release the admit card for written exam in March 2019. Candidates will be able to download NDA 2019 admit card by entering either registration number or roll number and date of birth. The written exam of NDA 1 is scheduled to be held on April 21, 2019. The commission will release NDA 2019 result in June 2019. Based on NDA 2019 written result, candidates will be selected to appear for SSB Interview. The SSB Interview for the qualified candidates will be conducted from July to September 2019. UPSC will prepare the All India Merit list based on candidates performance in written exam and SSB Interview. 


Candidates will be offered final admission to  Army, Navy and Air Force wings of NDA for 143rd course and for the 105th course of Naval Academy (10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme) based on their rank in the merit list, number of vacancies, medical fitness and preferences. The commission had released the application form January 9, 2019, which was available till  February 4, 2019. As many as 392 vacancies will be filled through this examination.  Read below for more details on NDA 2019 eligibility, important dates, selection process, application form, exam centres and cutoff.

NDA Eligibility Criteria 2019 

UPSC has prescribed the eligibility criteria of NDA. Candidates applying for the exam must fulfill NDA eligibility criteria 2019 in terms of age, academic qualification and physical measurement. The eligibility criteria of NDA is given below.

The age of candidates applying for NDA must be between 16.5 and 19.5 (Candidates born not earlier than July 2, 2000 and not later than July 1, 2003 are eligible)

Educational Qualification 

For Army wing, candidates must have passed Class 12/HSC


For Air Force and 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme of Indian Naval Academy, candidates must have passed Class 12 with  Physics and Mathematics

Physical Measurement

The minimum height of candidates for Army, Navy and Naval Academy is 157 cm while it is 162.5 cm for Air Force


NDA Application Form 2019 

UPSC has released the NDA application form withdrawal facility on February 8, 2019.  Candidates who do not wish to appear for the examination even after submitting the application form can withdraw their application till February 14. The application form of NDA 1was released on January 9, 2019 in online mode. The last date to apply for the exam was February 4, 2019. Fee could be paid both online and offline which was Rs 100 for General and OBC category while SC and ST candidates were exempted from paying the fee. Last date to pay the examination fee online was February 4, 2019 while it was February 3 for offline payment. NDA application form could be filled in two parts – I and II. In Part I, candidates had to register for the exam by filling the basic information. In Part II, applicants had to pay the examination fees, select examination centre, upload photograph and signature. Candidates could edit the details in NDA application form 2019 within the prescribed date of application. The application form of NDA 2 will be released on August 7, 2019. The last date to fill NDA application form is September 3, 2019


NDA Exam Centres 2019 

The exam centres of NDA provides a list of cities where the written exam will be conducted. The list of NDA exam centres  2019 has been released by UPSC along with the notification. According to the notification, the written exam of NDA 1 will be conducted across several exam centres in 41 cities of the country. Applicants will have to select NDA exam centres while filling the application form. The exam centres will be allotted to candidates on first-apply-first-allot basis. Therefore, candidates will have to fill their application early to get their preferred exam centre. 


NDA Admit Card 2019 

UPSC will release the admit card of NDA three weeks before the exam. NDA 1 admit card 2019 is likely to be released in March 2019. The admit card will be issued online to candidates who will successfully fill the application form. Candidates can access NDA admit card by entering either registration number or roll number. The admit card will carry details like candidate’s name, the address of allotted exam centre, date, time of the exam, roll number, category, photograph, signature etc. Candidates must carry their NDA admit card to the examination centre on the day of exam. The admit card for NDA 2 exam will be released in October 2019. 


NDA Exam Pattern 2019 

According to NDA exam pattern, the test will be conducted in pen and paper mode. The exam carries two papers, Mathematics and General Ability Test (GAT). The duration of each test will be 2 hours and 30 minutes. The Mathematics paper will carry total 120 questions while GAT paper will have 150 questions. Maximum marks allotted to the written exam is 900. As per the marking scheme, candidates for the correct answer in mathematics will score 2.5 marks. For the correct answer in GAT, candidates will score 4 marks. For wrong answer, 1/3 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty. The SSB Interview will be conducted for 900 marks.

NDA Answer Key 2019 

The answer key of NDA will be released within a few hours after completion of exam. NDA answer key 2019 will be released by the coaching institutes. Candidates will be able to download the answer key for all sets of subjects, Mathematics and General Ability Test (GAT). Using the answer key, candidates will be able to check the correct answers to questions asked in the exam. The official NDA answer key 2019 will be released after the declaration of final result. 


NDA Result 2019

UPSC will announce the result of NDA 2019 written exam in June 2019. The result will be available online in PDF format which will display the roll numbers of qualified candidates. On the basis of NDA result of written exam, candidates will be selected for SSB Interview for Intelligence and Personality Test. After the SSB Interview, the examination authority will prepare the final merit list. The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of written exam and SSB Interview. Final admission will be offered to candidates based on their rank in the merit list. The final NDA result 2019 will be declared in  November 2019. 


NDA Cut off 2019

The cut off is the minimum qualifying marks that candidates will have to secure to qualify the exam. NDA cut off is applied for written exam and SSB Interview but UPSC releases the cut off for written exam and final selection. NDA cut off 2019 for written examination is calculated out of 900 marks. Based on NDA cut off of written examination, candidates will be selected for SSB Interview. The commission will decide the final cut off out of 1800 marks (900 out of written exam and 900 of SSB Interview). The final merit list of NDA will be prepared based on the final cutoff. Candidates can check previous years’ NDA cut off.

NDA Selection Procedure 2019

The selection procedure of NDA comprises two stages – written test and SSB Interview for Intelligence and Personality Test. Candidates clearing the written exam are called for SSB Interview. The test follows two-stage selection procedure. All the candidates are put to stage-one test on the first day of reporting at Selection Centres/Air Force Selection Boards/Naval Selection Boards. Only those candidates who will qualify stage 1 are admitted to the second stage/remaining tests. Stage 2 of SSB continues for 4 to 5 days followed by medical test of 3 to 4 days. SSB board evaluates intelligence, personality, compatibility and potential of prospective candidates for Army/Navy wings of the NDA and 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme of Indian Naval Academy.


What after Selection in NDA?

  • The selected candidates for the three services viz, Army, Navy and Air Force are given preliminary training both academic and physical for a period of 3 years at the National Defence Academy.
  • The training during the first two and half years is common to the cadets of three wings. All the cadets on passing out will be awarded degrees from Jawaharlal Nehru University Delhi as under:-
  • (a) Army Cadets - B.Sc/ B.Sc (Computer)/ B.A
  • (b) Naval Cadets - B. Tech Degree
  • (c) Air Force Cadets - B. Tech Degree
  • The selected candidates of the Naval Academy will be given preliminary training both academic and physical, for a period of 4 years at Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala.
  • The cadets of 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme will be awarded a B. Tech Degree on successful completion of training.
  • On passing out from the National Defence Academy, Army Cadets go to the Indian Military Academy, Dehra Dun, Naval Cadets to Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala and Air Force cadets to AFA, Hyderabad.
