
NDA 2018 – Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the result of NDA 2 written exam on November 30. The Commission had conducted the written examination on September 9, 2018. The admit card of written exam was issued on August 20, 2018. Candidates were able to download NDA 2 admit card till the day of examination. Total 383 vacancies are announced by UPSC for NDA 2. National Defence Academy & Naval Academy, commonly known as NDA/NA, is a national level defence entrance exam conducted for candidates who wish to pursue their career as commissioned officers in Army, Navy, Air Force and Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC). NDA is conducted twice in a year – April and September. Candidates who have completed 10+2/HSC and are between 16.5 to 19.5 years are eligible to appear for NDA examination.
NDA is conducted in two stages – written exam and Service Selection Board (SSB) Interview. Candidates qualifying the written exam are called for SSB Interview. UPSC prepares final merit list based on the total marks secured in written exam and SSC Interview. Candidates are selected for Army, Navy and Air Force wings of NDA and Naval Academy (10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme) based on their ranks in merit list subjected to the number of vacancies, eligibility, medical fitness and preferences. Over 3 lakh candidates appear every year for the exam. NDA 1 was conducted on April 22, 2018. NDA 1 result announced on June 15, 2018. SSB Interview for NDA 1 will be held in September/ October 2018. NDA Eligibility Criteria 2018
Candidates applying for NDA 2 2018 must fulfill the eligibility criteria prescribed by UPSC in terms of age, educational qualification, marital status and physical standard. Check below NDA eligibility criteria for appearing in the exam.
Age Limit: The age of candidates applying for NDA 2 must be between 16.5 and 19.5
Educational Qualification:
Candidates applying for Army Wing of National Defence Academy must have passed Class 12 under 10+2 pattern of school education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University
Candidates to be eligible for Air Force and Navy and 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme of Indian Naval Academy must have passed class 12 under 10+2 pattern of school education or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics by a State Education Board or a University
Candidates who are appearing in 10+2/HSC or equivalent examination can also apply
Candidates appearing for Class 11 examination are not eligible
Marital Status: Only unmarried male candidates are eligible to apply for NDA 2 2018
Physical Measurement:
Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards prescribed for admission to NDA 2 2018 examination. The minimum height of candidates for Army, Navy and Naval Academy is 157 cm while it is 162.5 cm for Air Force.
NDA Application Form 2018
UPSC had released NDA 2 application form on June 6, 2018. Candidates had to fill NDA application form online. Last date to apply for NDA 2 was July 2. NDA application form 2018 could be filled in two parts. In Part I NDA registration candidates had to fill basic information. In Part II of NDA application form 2018, candidates had to pay the application fees, select examination centre, upload photograph and signature. NDA application fees could be paid both online and offline. Candidates could pay application fees online till July 2, 2018. Candidates paying fees by cash had to deposit it in any branch of SBI. Last date to generate pay-in-slip for offline payment was July 1, 2018 till 11.59 pm. The examination fee for NDA 2 was Rs. 100 for candidates belonging from General and OBC while SC and ST category candidates were exempted from paying the fee. Editing of details in NDA application form could be done till July 2, 2018. Candidates were required to fill their preferences of courses while filling the application form.

NDA Exam Centres 2018
NDA 2 2018 was conducted offline across 41 exam cities across India. Candidates were required to enter their preferences of NDA exam centres while filling the application form. NDA exam centres are allotted on first-apply-first-allot basis. Candidates had to fill their applications early to get their preferred exam centres. NDA Admit Card 2018
The admit card of NDA (2) 2018 written exam was available from August 20, 2018. NDA 2 admit card 2018 was available online for candidates who had applied successfully for the exam. Candidates had to download NDA 2018 admit card either by registration number or roll number. The admit card contains details like candidate’s name, address of allotted exam centre, date, time of exam, roll number, category, photograph, signature etc. Candidates had to carry one photo identity proof along with admit card to the examination centres. Without NDA admit card and photo identity proof candidates were not allowed to take the exam. Candidates were not allowed to carry Mobile phones, calculators, notebooks or any other electronic gadgets inside the examination hall.
NDA Exam Pattern 2018
NDA 2 has been conducted in pen and paper mode in two sessions – morning and afternoon. The exam comprises two papers – Mathematics and General Ability Test (GAT) as per NDA exam pattern 2018. Each paper of NDA 2 will be of 2 hours and 30 minutes. There will be total 120 multiple choice questions in Mathematics. The question booklet of GAT will carry total 150 multiple choice questions. The total marks of written exam is 900. As per marking scheme, candidates for correct answer in mathematics will score 2.5 marks. For correct answer in GAT, candidates will score 4 marks. For wrong answer, 1/3 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty. The SSB Interview will be conducted for 900 marks.

NDA Answer Key 2018
NDA 2 answer key has been released on September 9, 2018 within few hours after completion of exam. NDA answer key is released for all sets of Mathematics and General Ability Test (GAT). NDA answer key 2018 has been released by institutes like Cavalier, Baalnoi etc. Candidates can use these answer keys to check correct answers and calculate probable score of exam. UPSC will release UPSC NDA answer key after declaration of final result.
NDA Result 2018
UPSC announces NDA result is declared in two stages – written and final. First, the result for written exam is announced. Candidates who qualify the written exam securing the qualifying marks are called for SSB Interview. A merit list to select candidates for SSB Interview is prepared based on the marks of written exam. Candidates declared qualified as per NDA result appears for SSB Interview. The final NDA result is declared based on the marks secured by candidates in written exam and SSB Interview. Candidates are required to secure qualifying marks separately at each stage. NDA 2 result for written exam has been declared on November 30, 2018. The final result of NDA 2 is expected to be declared in May 2019. The result of NDA 1 2018 written exam was announced on June 15 while the final result has been declared on November 26.
Candidates have to secure cutoff to qualify the NDA 2018. UPSC announces NDA cutoff for written exam and final. The commission decides the cutoff to select deserving candidates for Army/Navy/Air Force wings of the NDA and 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme of Indian Naval Academy. NDA cutoff for written exam is calculated out of 900 marks. Candidates have to secure qualifying marks in SSB Interview out of 900. The final NDA cutoff is calculated out of 1800 marks that 900 marks of written exam and 900 marks of SSB Interview. NDA 1 cutoff will be declared in November. NDA 2 cutoff will be declared in May 2019. Candidates can check previous years’ NDA cut off.

NDA Selection Procedure 2018
The selection procedure of NDA comprises two stages – written test and SSB Interview for Intelligence and Personality Test. Candidates clearing the written exam are called for SSB Interview. SSB is a two-stage selection procedure. All the candidates are put to stage-one test on the first day of reporting at Selection Centres/Air Force Selection Boards/Naval Selection Boards. Only those candidates who qualify stage 1 are admitted to the second stage/remaining tests. Stage 2 of SSB continues for 4 to 5 days followed by medical test of 3 to 4 days. SSB board evaluates intelligence, personality, compatibility and potential of prospective candidates for Army/Navy wings of the NDA and 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme of Indian Naval Academy.
What after Selection in NDA?
The selected candidates for the three services viz, Army, Navy and Air Force are given preliminary training both academic and physical for a period of 3 years at the National Defence Academy.
The training during the first two and half years is common to the cadets of three wings. All the cadets on passing out will be awarded degrees from Jawaharlal Nehru University Delhi as under:-
(a) Army Cadets - B.Sc/ B.Sc (Computer)/ B.A
(b) Naval Cadets - B. Tech Degree
(c) Air Force Cadets - B. Tech Degree
The selected candidates of the Naval Academy will be given preliminary training both academic and physical, for a period of 4 years at Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala.
The cadets of 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme will be awarded a B. Tech Degree on successful completion of training.
On passing out from the National Defence Academy, Army Cadets go to the Indian Military Academy, Dehra Dun, Naval Cadets to Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala and Air Force cadets to AFA, Hyderabad.
