IBPS Clerk Eligibility Criteria 2019 - According to IBPS Clerk eligibility criteria, any graduate candidates between 20 to 28 years (date for calculating age may vary as per recruitment notification) are eligible to apply for the exam. The IBPS Clerk Eligibility Criteria is prescribed by Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS). Candidates who wish to apply for IBPS Clerk 2019 are advised to check the eligibility criteria to ascertain their academic and age qualification as asked by the examination authority. Recruitment of candidates will be done only if they fulfill IBPS Clerk 2019 eligibility criteria.

IBPS Clerk Eligibility Criteria 2019 

Candidates must ensure that they fulfill the following eligibility criteria. 


IBPS Clerk Eligibility Criteria 2019 in terms of Nationality


A candidate must be either 

  1. Citizen of India or 
  2. A citizen of Nepal or 
  3. A subject of Bhutan or 
  4. A Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or 
  5. A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India, provided that a candidate belonging to categories (2), (3), (4) & (5) and have certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.

Maximum: 28 years 

Minimum: 20 years 

Date of birth: Candidates must have born not earlier than 02.09.1991 and not later than 01.09.1999 (both dates inclusive)

Persons affected by 1984 riots

Regular employees of the Union Carbide Factory, Bhopal retrenched from service (Applicable to Madhya Pradesh state only)

IBPS Clerk Eligibility Criteria 2019 as per Educational Qualification 

Graduation in any discipline from a recognised University or any equivalent qualification recognised as such by the Central Government. 

Knowldege of Computer: Candidates must have operating and working knowledge in computer. This means, candidates must have certificate/diploma/degree in  computer operations/language/ should have studied computer/information Technology as one of the subjects in the high school/college/institute.

Knowledge of official and local language: Candidates must have proficiency in the official language of the state/UT. 


IBPS Clerk Eligibility Criteria 2019 – Important Points 

  • The date of passing eligibility examination will be the date appearing on the mark sheet or provisional certificate issued by the University / Institute. 

  • Candidates need to indicate the percentage of marks obtained in graduation while registering for the exam. 

  • Candidates need to produce relevant documents in support of their eligibility pertaining to nationality, age, educational qualifications etc at the time of joining. 

  • No change of category will be permitted at any stage after registration.

Ans: Candidates have be a graduate in any discipline. 

Ques: Can a final year graduation candidate appear in the exam?

Ans: Candidates who are in their final year of graduation are not eligible to apply for the exam. 

Ques: Is there any limit in the number of attempts?

Ans: No, there is no limit in the number of attempts in IBPS Clerk exam for candidates. 

Ques: Is there any minimum percentage of marks in graduation?

Ans: There is no minimum percentage of marks in graduation.  

Ques: How to indicate percentage obtained in graduation while registering for the exam?

Ans: Candidate should indicate the percentage obtained in graduation in the online application form. The percentage can be calculated by dividing the total marks obtained by candidates in all subjects in all years/semesters and multiplying by 100. 


IBPS Clerk exam is conducted by IBPS to select candidates in clerical cadre posts. The recruitment exam comprises two stages – preliminary and mains exam. Candidates selected through this recruitment exam will be posted to 19 public sector banks.
