CDS II 2015 – Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced to conduct the common entrance exam – CDS II 2015 on November 1 – for Graduation level pass and appearing candidates who are looking to join the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force wings of Combined Defence Services. The CDS exam is conducted twice a year. CDS II 2015 will be conducted on November 1to fill as many as 464 CDS vacancies including 200 for Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, 45 for Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, 32 for Air Force Academy, Hyderabad, 175 for Officers Training Academy, Chennai (for men), and 11 for Officers Training Academy, Chennai (for women).

CDS II 2015 Selection Process – Aspirants have to qualify the written exam to be able to be called for SSB round, which includes intelligence and personality test (including psychological aptitude). Based on the performance at the SSB, final selection is made in order of merit, subject to medical fitness and suitability.


CDS II 2015 Application Form – CDS II 2015 Application Form was available online from July 25 to August 14, 2015. CDS II 2015 application fee was of Rs 200, which could be paid either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of SBI, State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur/State Bank of Hyderabad/State Bank of Mysore/State Bank of Patiala/State Bank of Travancore or by using Visa/Master Credit/Debit Card.

Note: Female/SC/ST candidates are exempted from payment of fee.


CDS II 2015 Eligibility Criteria – To be eligible for applying for admission in the Defence job courses, candidates must be the citizen of India, and are appearing or have qualified a Graduation level exam.


Age limit and gender for the candidates under CDS II 2015 Eligibility Criteria:

  • Aspirant must be an unmarried male

  • Born between July 2, 1992 and July 1, 1997

Educational qualification for the candidates under CDS 2014 Eligibility Criteria:

  • For IMA and OTA - Degree from a recognized university or equivalent

  • For INA - Degree in Engineering from a recognized University or Institution

  • For IFA - Degree of a recognized university (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering

CDS II 2015 Important DatesUPSC has announced the important dates of CDS II. Candidates must note them carefully, so that they do not miss out any important event regarding the recruitment process. CDS II 2015 Important Dates are given below:

  • Last date of CDS II 2015 Application Form - August 14, 2015

  • Written exam for CDS II 2015 - November 1, 2015

  • Admit Card of CDS II - October 9, 2015

CDS II 2015 Exam Pattern – For admission to Military, Naval and Air Force Academy, the candidates are evaluated in English, General Knowledge (GK) and Elementary Mathematics, each paper of 2 hours duration and 100 marks each. For admission to Officers Training Academy the candidates are tested in a similar manner as explained above except that they are exempted from taking Elementary Mathematics test. As described in CDS II 2014 Exam Pattern, Elementary Mathematics paper will be of Matriculation level and questions in other papers will be based on Graduation standard.


CDS II 2015 Admit Card – The UPSC will make available Admit Card of CDS II written exam for downloading tentatively in October. Candidates without their admit card will not be allowed in the examination hall. They must retain their admit card safe with them throughout the recruitment process. The admit card will be available online for downloading and will not be sent to any candidate by any other way.


CDS II 2015 Result – UPSC will announce the Result of CDS II written exam tentatively in third week of December. Once the result is declared, the shortlisted candidates will be called for SSB Interview round. To be able to get admission to defence job courses, candidates have to qualify the SSB interview round.

Will I be able to clear medical of CDS if i got my hand burnt by cracker and is ok now.

In medical test, they usually check the Height, weight. They also check for amy visual, auditory deformities. They will take a Chest X ray to rule out any Chest infections. Hand burn is a scar and it us not a deformity or an illness. So if the rest of the parameters are good, then there should be no reason why you would not clear the Medical fitness test. All that matters is that you should be in good Physical and Mental health and be free from any deformity or disease that might interfere with performing your duties efficiently.


My date of birth is 10th july,1999.Can I apply for cds in 2023?

Yes you can apply for CDS in 2023. According to CDS eligibility criteria candidate's minimum age should be 20 & maximum age should be 24 years. Is spectacles allow a candidates can select with spectacles

Dear aspirant,

yes you can apply for CDS exam even if you have spectacles however you will not be able to get into the air force and flying department because of your spectacles.

you could however go for logistics and administration even if you have your spectacles.

if I have 50% in mathematics and physics in 10+2 class, can I appear for OTA and AFA?

Yes, you are eligible for appearing for cds ota & afa.

  • The eligibility criteria for CDS OTA says: the person should be between 19-25 years age & should have a bachelor's degree from a recognised University/institue (men & women both). The men can be married or unmarried & women can be married or unmarried or widow.
  • The eligibility criteria for AFA says that: the person should be between 20-24 years unmarried. Should have a degree  (with physics and mathematics at 10+2 level) from a recognised University/institue or bachelor's in engineering.

i have completed my ba.llb degree and my dob is 04/03/1995 .can i apply for CDS .if not then is there any other option for me in defence.

Hi Dawood,

As per the latest eligibility criteria of CDS 2020, the candidates between 20 to 24 years are eligible to give this exam.

You are 26 now which means you are above 24 years of age now, so you are not eligible for the respective exam in each and every course ranging from IMA to OTA.

You can go for Indian Army recruitments now.
